Decide where you want to be in 2019, and don’t stop till you get there…
When it comes to New Years Resolutions, most people will choose the same things… lose weight, quit smoking, get fit etc… So for a change we selected 7 New Years resolution ideas that focuse on your mind and soul.
To be completely honest, I have never met anyone that meditates on a daily basis. Usually, people say that they simply don’t have the time. For me personally- I just get bored very easily… BUT here is an interesting fact - Did you know that our ego/our overly active mind “dies” temporarily, when we meditate? That’s why it is going against our decision of putting it on hold. So how about practicing it in short bursts, let’s say 4-5 minutes at a time?
Learn a new skill
I LOVE this one! Have you ever thought about learning photography, knitting or maybe calligraphy (I actually know someone who has a done a calligraphy course a couple of years ago, and two years on now she runs her own business creating beautiful personalised invitations…). So what are you waiting for? Follow your interest, you never know where it might take you :-)
Be kinder to yourself
It’s so easy for us to focus on our imperfections, our mistakes, and shortcomings. But let’s not forget happiness begins with treating ourselves with love, kindness and respect. So next time those little voices in your head try to put you down, or make you feel unworthy, why don’t you take a deeeeeeeeeep breath and remember to be patient with yourself, and except things you simply can’t change.
Now this is something I will be doing a LOT in 2019. Who doesn’t love and need a bit of TLC - right?? We all love getting pampered, but sometimes we either don’t have the time, or the budget to do so. (But it really doesn’t need to cost the earth!) How about putting some face mask on once a week, whilst having a cuppa and watching TV / Netflix ?
Surround yourself with people who make you feel good
Don’t be afraid of letting go of people if they have a negative impact on you or your feelings. Friendships change and people grow apart, it’s as simple as that. Why not take the same approach with your social media, only follow people who make you feel good. If you don’t like what you see, or it makes you upset simply unfollow them
Create a list of books to finish or movies to watch in 2019
Your new year’s resolution deosn’t have to relate to travel, work and health etc…. It can be something as simple as creating a book list to read or spending time to watch some older movies you missed at the cinema
Write down your goals for the new year
So this final resolution will probably flutter my husband’s heart (as he has been nagging me to do this for years). The idea behind this, is if something is written down and visible, then you’re more likely to commit and stick to it and less likely to forget all about it.
So get your fancy new notebook out and a pen and write down what you’re hoping to achieve in 2019. Once you write down your goals, make sure you break them down to actionable steps (short term goals). Studies have shown the more detailed your actionable steps are, the more likely you are to be successful.
