Lets face it; the last few days leading up to Christmas can be manic even at the best of times… The last minute shopping, cooking, decorating, shopping, organising erm… did I mention shopping – can be a rather stressful experience. Not to mention the endless parties and work drinks – considering the amount of alcohol we consume during this month, I’m surprised that December is not just a big blur!?
I truly admire those people… you know the ones who get their shopping done in October , just so when December comes they can sit around in a coffee shop looking uber smug, drinking their extra hot, single shot skinny Latte with whipped Cream (?!?!?) while I’m running around like a mad person from shop to shop to find THE perfect present… who am I kidding ? – by the end of the day any present will do.
Almost every year I decide to make presents myself (I blame Kirstie Allsopp for that) just to realise half way through it, that a toddler has more patience than me. This year the only “person” who is getting a handmade present from me will be our dog…I have decided to make him little cookies (again, thanks Kirstie) although I have to be honest I nearly bought him a box of Lily’s cookies the other day.
Despite all the stress it brings, I have to admit I truly love Christmas! I simply admire everything about it! The smell of the Christmas tree, the Christmas carols, the over the top decorations, but most importantly I love getting together and spending some time with close friends and family.
This year I’m spending it with my husband’s slightly mad family (no need to mention I fit in perfectly). I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to just relaxing and eating myself into a food coma while watching The Holiday.
And as I write this, I just realised I can smell burnt doggy biscuits! I have to go!!
Have a magical Christmas everyone!
