So now that the days are shorter and colder, we are all looking for indoor options to entertain our little ones and that gives us even more reason to head to the theatre...
When it comes to a children's play, we are extremely lucky, as London has a great range of theatre shows aimed at children.
A trip to see one of London’s West End shows can often be a perfect family outing for those with slightly older children. Seeing live theatre is a great way to inspire a child, as well as encouraging them to use their imagination - not to mention that it can be great exposure to literature and history. However, there are a few things you should definitely consider before booking your ticket. As much as we LOVE the big West End Shows, the reality is that most of them are not designed for young children. The good news is that there are plenty of options available for those who want to take their toddlers/babies to a London theatre. So please, DO your RESEARCH!
Tips to make your Trip smoother:
Always arrive at least 30 mins early (to give you plenty of time to visit the toilet and grab some snacks, if you haven't brought any with you etc)
Ideally have some healthy snacks and a bottle of water in your bag.
Make sure you explain to your child what the etiquette and appropriate behaviour is in a theatre.
Tell your child in a nutshell what you're going to see, also if your child gets easily spooked over certain things (loud noises, masks, flashing lights…) then try to prepare/warn them beforehand.
